Veteran actor Dilip Kumar and his wife, actress Sairu Banu celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary in their Mumbai residence on October 11. Pictures from the celebration were posted on Mr Kumar’s official Twitter handle in which he posed with his family and friends. Dilip Kumar, 94, and Saira Banu, 73, have 21 years between themselves and married in 1966. Together, they have featured in films such as Gopi, Sagina and Bairaag.Dilip Kumar suffered from dehydration and kidney ailments in August and was hospitalised for eight days since his condition had deteriorated after which he was put on ventilator. He was discharged a week later.
Dilip Kumar is celebrated for his films such as Andaz, Aan, Madhumati, Devdas, Mughal-e-Azam, Ganga Jamuna, Kranti and Karma. His last film Qila released in 1998.
Known as the tragedy king of Bollywood, Dilip Kumar was honoured with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, India's highest award in cinema, in 1994 and the Padma Vibhushan, the country's second-highest civilian award, in 2015.
Priyanka Chopra, meanwhile, more often resides overseas than India. In Bollywood, she was last seen in 2016’s Jai Gangaajal and is currently busy with her international projects – A Kid Like Jake and Isn’t It Romantic, after making her debut in Hollywood with Baywatch this year.
