It was nothing less than a thiruvizha — fans from across the state had congregated at the Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai to witness the audio launch event of Vijay's Mersal. The roads ruling to the venue were dotted by cut-outs and posters of the actor and fans went berserk, shouting slogans and calling out to him.
But, Vijay was a picture of poise around the evening. Every time someone had something good to say about him, or his fans cheered for him when he was shown on the giant screens inside the auditorium, Vijay just flashed his famous smile, not letting emotions reflect on his face. And when it was his turn to address the audience he came on stage and spoke about how everyone has to be determined to achieve great things in life.
He told his fans, "Nanba, people will not let us live in peace so easily. But we have to overcome all the problems. We should learn to ignore negativities. If everyone likes us, won't life be boring? Our life depends on the kind of people we surround ourselves with. We might have many friends when we are in a good position, but we must value those who standby us always. I've given many hits, many flops, and many blockbusters. But the biggest wealth I've earned are you guys (fans)."
He further added, "Your determination when you have nothing and your attitude when you have everything — these are the two factors that will define you."
Both Vijay and AR Rahman, who has composed music for the Atlee directorial, are celebrating their 25th year in the industry. While kids and celebrity fans of Vijay — Shanthnu Bhagyaraj, Mahat, and choreographer Sherif — performed to his hit numbers, Rahman entertained the audience by performing live the songs from the album.
