SALUTE TO THE INITIATIVES DONE BY THE JAMMU TRAFFIC POLICE

With the increase in the purchase of vehicles the traffic jams and issues related to traffic are also accelerating in speed. People have to wait for long hours in the jam to reach nearby locations. Sometimes ambulances are also stuck due to this heavy blockage of roads and this is one of the main reasons that the patients don’t survive due to lack of medication in time, and people have to lose their near and dear ones. The main cause of traffic in Jammu is due to Matadors. These mini buses are seen all over the city and mostly tend to block roads.
Jammu is very crowded places and a lot of traffic jams are mainly observed in the heart of the city which covers areas such as Jewel Chowk, Canal road, Panjthirthi, Kachi Chawni, Shalimar road etc. Jewel Chowk is considered to be a hub of Matadors which create a lot of havoc and traffic in the area, but today Traffic Police Jammu took an initiative and stranded a glow board at the entrance of Jewel Chowk mentioning “This is not a Matador Stand”. After this effort, less traffic jam was observed in the area of Jewel and canal Chowk as the Matador was not allowed to stand and wait for their passengers to board. The Matador drivers usually park their vehicles anywhere rather than the allotted stands.
If the Traffic Police Jammu along with the Govt will keep on adding new ideas and implementations we will have better traffic conditions in the near future. Matadors should strictly make use of the stands and so should the residents cooperate with them to board and alight only from the constructed Matador stands. Workshops should be conducted to make people aware of the current scenario of Jams and come forward to curb the situation. People should take part actively in the Traffic week functions and events in order to gain maximum knowledge about the issues related to the Traffic.
