It’s the beginning of autumn and the weather in Jammu city is still touching 33 degrees in the day time. People are struggling with the humidity and extreme temperature. Some even opt for air conditioned vehicles but those who have to travel via local conveyance or two wheelers have to get under the threshold of the sun rays. Though this season Jammuites have experienced enough rain showers after the rainfall humidity increases along with the harsh heat which is unbearable. So people opt for various alternatives, people eat fruits and consume chilled beverages to kill the heat. People wear cotton clothing, short dresses, shorts pants etc to get relief from the weather.
Doctors advise elders and children to keep themselves hydrated and cover their bodies with scraps. Famous Ranbir Canal and River Chenab witnessed the heavy rush of visitors as they are seen dipping into the chilled water to beat the heat. People usually visit these places on the weekend and sometimes in the weekdays as well. The hilly destinations like Patnitop, Nathatop, Sanasar, Matalai, Bhaderwah, Kishtwar are famous spots for beating the heat.
We are heading towards the end of the year and eagerly waiting for winters so that we can get relief from this scorching heat. Winter season is a pleasant weather majority of people like it and wants it to last for long but we can’t go against nature. Summers are equally important like the winters to maintain the ecological balance. The almighty has made everything in a balanced manner each and every individual, thing, weather; animal, plants etc. have a purpose. So we should be thankful for such a beautiful environment that we have got.
