A deputation of Displaced Persons called on Union Home Minister demanding to ensure easy process of documentation for package which is already delayed from last two years. Led by known refugee leader and former Minister Manjit Singh, the deputation of Displaced Persons of 1965 and 1971, met Rajnath Singh and appraised him about the problems being faced by them.
The deputation informed that the Displaced Persons have been put to unnecessary harassment by the lower rank officers of the concerned departments with regard to the completion of formalities. "These
formalities are difficult and cannot be fulfilled by the DPs because most of them don't have documents like ration cards etc of the place where from they escaped," Manjit Singh said. On this, Manjit Singh said they were assured that the government would look into it and DPs would not face any harassment if any in future. He said that those DPs of 1965 and 1971 should be given tenancy right under section 3 (A) of Agrarian Reform Act on government as well as custodian land which is legally alloted to DP.
