The Business School, University of Jammu in collaboration with DATRI organised a systematic donor drive under its Social Immersion Programme here on Tuesday.
This donor drive is first of its kind not only in The Business School but also in the entire State of Jammu and Kashmir.
Pertinent to mention here DATRI is a Chennai based non-profit organisation that was founded with a mission to save lives of those suffering from life threatening diseases such as Cancer, Thalassemia, Anaemia and other blood related disorders etc. A blood stem cell transplant can save the lives of such patients.
The event started with a welcome note from Prof Alka Sharma, Director, The Business School, who welcomed Shweta, Co-ordinator Datri, Northern region. She emphasised on the need for conducting such programmes so that The Business School can contribute towards this noble cause.
An audio visual presentation was made to elaborate the complete procedure of stem cell donation. She also shared the life experiences of donors and patients through short videos.
After the interaction session, process for registration started. Faculty Members of The Business School registered themselves as volunteers for future stem cell donations. Over 200 students from The Business School, ICccr and HRM, and SHTM participated in the donor drive and registered themselves as volunteers.
Dr. Rachna, Senior Assistant Professor of The Business School was the coordinator for the programme.
