MLC Ch Vikram Randhawa celebrated Diwali with the inmates of Old Age Home, Amphalla here on Wednesday.
In a statement issued here on Wednesday, Randhawa said that he visited the old age home to ascertain the facts behind the ouster of these elderly people from their houses. He enquired about the well being of the inmates and also took stock of the facilities being provided to them.
Randhawa said that it is a matter of shame for us that the number elderly people are increasing in the old age homes. He took upon himself to contact the family members of these elderly people to facilitate their return to their homes so that they can live a dignified life.
Randhawa said that it is very unfortunate that these elderly people who had spent their hard earned money in educating their children and building houses for them are now forced to live in these old age homes. He vowed to contact their children and urge them to respect their parents and take them back to their houses after tendering unconditional apology to them. He said that the children who refuse to take their parents back to their houses have no right on properties also. He said that he will fight tooth and nail so that the justice is provided to these abandoned elderly people.
