Asking that Congress is committed to strengthen the secular fabric of the State and to seek equitable development of three regions, Sham Lal Sharma, former Minister and Senior Vice President PCC on Monday reiterated his demand of Regional Councils for all three regions of the State.
Sham Lal was speaking as the Chief Guest in the meeting of District Congress Committee Urban Jammu, here on Monday. The meeting was presided over by Anil Chopra District President.
Sharma described the Coalition Government as total failure on all fronts and causing unrest and untold miseries to each and every section of the society due to its wrong policies.
“Congress would continue to play its role of a responsible and vibrant opposition to highlight the failures of the government and make it accountable to the people of the State,” he asserted.
He also said that State Congress is gearing up for holding a grand function to commemorate the Death Anniversary of late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in the State.
“The Death Anniversary of Indira Gandhi will be observed in a befitting manner. Various functions would be organised by District Congress Committees in their respective District Headquarters and the main function will be held at Indira Chowk, Jammu, where all senior leaders of the party and functionaries of PCC and DCC Jammu would pay tributes to Indira Gandhi,” sham said.
Anil Chopra asked the functionaries of District, Block and Ward Congress Committee Jammu Urban to attend the function to be held at Indira Chowk on October 31 and pay their tributes to the Iron lady.
Highlighting the failures of present government, Chopra said that the government has failed to fulfill its commitment with the people during elections and the common man of Jammu feels cheated by the BJP and has determined to teach lesson to this party in elections whenever it takes place.
