Development of Mantalai-Sudhmahadev: DB seeks counter affidavits

A Division Bench of State High Court comprising Badar Durrez Ahmed and Justice Sanjeev Kumar on Thursday directed counsel for Union Ministry of Tourism, State through Principal Secretary to Government, Tourism Department, Secretary of Tourism J&K, Directorate of Tourism, Chairman Patnitop Development Authority (PDA) and Chief Executive Officer, PDA to file counter affidavits within three weeks and also a rejoinder affidavit, if necessary, within one week thereafter, in the Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Advocate Summit Nayyar seeking respondents to develop/improve the tourist infrastructural facilities at Mantalai-Sudhmahadev including temples which attract a large number of tourists every year both in summer and winter seasons and to take effective measures as expeditiously as possible.
Earlier, Senior Advocate Sunil Sethi appearing for the PIL submitted that Jammu and Kashmir attracts tourists from all over the world for its striking scenic beauty and temples. “Sudhmahadev temple and Mantalai temple in Udhampur District are considered sacred. The respondents have failed to tap the tourism potential of the area”, he submitted while giving details the aforesaid tourist resorts.
