Junior Jammu District Kabbadi Championship concludes
JAMMU: Unique Public Higher Secondary School and Kendriya Vidyalaya No 1 won respective boys and girls titles in the Junior District Kabaddi Championship-2018 organised by J&K Amateur Kabaddi Association (JKAKA) at Green Field Ground, here on Wednesday.
In the boys final, Unique Public Higher Secondary School defeated Vishwa Bharati Public Higher Secondary School by three points in close contest. This third place was bagged by Dashmesh Bhartiya Vidya Mandir School.
Earlier in semifinals, Unique Public School beat Dashmesh B.V Mandir by 10 points and Vishwa Bharati Public Higher Secondary School defeated Nobabad TT by eight points.
In girls section, KV No 1 outplayed Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar by five points in the final whereas third place was went to KV Bari Brahmana.
In the closing ceremony, Dilbag Singh DGP HG/CD and SDRF, J and K, was Chief Guest who distributed cash prizes and trophies to winner and runner-up teams in the presence of Guest of Honour, Ranjeet Kalara, Vice Chairman State Sports Council.
Anil Gupta, President JKAKA, who presided over the function, announced cash awards Rs 10,000 to winners and Rs 5,000 to runners up and third position in both boys and girls sections.
Dilbag Singh also honoured J&K BSNL kabbadi team, which gold medal in All India BSNL Tournament
Quarterfinals: Unique Public School beat RS Pura GM by 10 points, Dashmesh B.V Mandir defeated SOS Herman by five points, Vishaw Bharti School blanked Shiv Public School by 15 points and Nowabad TT School trounced Bhartiya Shiksha Kender by 12 points.
Earlier, in the quarterfinals matches, Ram Saroop Gupta, Senior Vice President Jammu Central Mahajan Sabha was the Chief Guest and in semifinal round, Avtar Singh Jasrotia, Director Sports University of Jammu was the Chief Guest.
The prominent persons present were I.J.S Chamak (Retd DIG), Hazi Abdul Quyoom, CSO of Sports Persons, Ravi Singh Divisional Sports Officer, B.S Tirthi Vice President, Surinder Mohan General Secretary, Sangram Singh Treasurer, Anil Gupta Joint Secretary, Anil Modi Organising Secretary, Dinesh Gupta District Secretary, Sandeep Singh, Chairman Anit Dope Committee, Ajay Gupta Chief Coach, Anil Sharma Chief Coach, Ankush Gupta Coach, Shashi Sharma Coach, Dheeraj Sharma Coach, Anu Radha Kabaddi Trainer and Poonam Jamwal Kabaddi Trainer.
