Ganiv Kaur, a resident of Jammu, has topped the merit list of JAG Branch (Women) of Indian Army, the result of which was declared today.
Ganiv takes pride in the fact that she hails from Jammu, a city which has rich culture and is land of warriors. She would be fourth generation officer to wear uniform and first women from Jammu to have top the merit list.
This was her first attempt and she made her family proud on topping the examination. Entry of women candidates in Army JAG Branch is one of the most competitive as only four vacancies were notified for this course. Her parents said that she was always focussed and put in sustained hard work without worrying for her result.
Her father Col Harjinder Singh, a Sena Medal awardee is still in service and her mother is a teacher. Both were overjoyed with the achievement of their daughter. Her mother said, “I believed in her and let her fly with open wings to achieve her dreams. I am proud that she has achieved what she wanted in life’’.
“The love for my country runs in the blood of my family and I took it challenge to wear the uniform which my forefathers have been wearing”, Ganiv said.
A keen sportswoman, voracious reader, blogger and alumni of Army Institute of Law Mohali, Ganiv feels blessed to be where she is today and thanked her well wishers, who supported her to fulfill her dream.
