In view of the visit of Congress core group on Jammu and Kashmir to Leh on 9th July, District Congress Committee Leh called a meeting of religious leaders, social workers, journalists, intellectuals and travel and trade unions of Leh at Grand Dragon to discuss issues affecting Ladakh region to be highlighted before the visiting committee.
Chaired by DCC Leh President Tsering Samphel, the meeting was attended by MLA Nawang Rigzin Jora, MLA Nubra Deldan Namgyal, former CEC Rigzin Spalbar, former MLC Nurboo Gailchan, former Executive Councillors, Congress Councillors, and representatives from Ladakh Buddhist Association, Anjuman Moin-Ul-Islam, Anjuman Imamiya, Gonpa Association, ALTOA, Hotel and Guest House Association, Merchant Association, Ex-servicemen, Transporters, Press Club Leh and women representatives from various organisations. As many as 25 representations representing different organisations are expected to meet the visiting delegation and among other issues the grant of UT with legislature for Ladakh is likely to top of list of issues. Pertinent to mention here that AICC’s policy and planning group formed on Kashmir Issue under leadership of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had already visited Kashmir and met 57 delegations in Kashmir including civil society organisation, political parties, House Boat Association, Tourist and Trade and journalist group. Similarly Congress policy and planning group also met 50 delegations in Jammu.
The Congress delegation team includes former PM, Dr. Manmohan Singh, Senior Congress Leaders Karan Singh, Ghulam Nabi Azad, P Chidambaram, Secretary In charge of State Ambika Soni, PCC President Ghulam A. Mir, Congress leader Tariq Karra, Congress Vice President Sham Lal and CLP leader Nawang Rigzin Jora.
