Janhvi Kapoor is busy shooting for the biopic of Indian Air Force Officer Gunjan Saxena, its title is yet to be okayed by the Ministry of Defence. The biopic is reportedly titled Kargil Girl, which has not been officially announced as the makers are awaiting clearance from the Ministry of Defence (MoD).
Gunjan made history as she flew into the war zone during the Kargil War in 1999, a feat which had not been allowed for or achieved by a lady officer in the IAF. Janhvi Kapoor started shooting for the film in February in Lucknow. The team will film family scenes with Janhvi, Angad Bedi and Pankaj Tripathi from April 28. Janhvi and Angad play siblings in the film, while Pankaj Tripathi plays their father.
Talking to Mumbai Mirror, a source close to the development confirmed the news and added, "They will also shoot near Lucknow’s Air Force Station."
Meanwhile, the title of Vikram Batra biopic starring Sidharth malhotra has been okayed by the MoD. The source informed, "It’s called Kargil’s Sher Shah. Both the title and the script have been cleared. The team has now submitted the list of shoot locations for the go-head."
Shabbir Boxwala, co-producer of the Batra biopic, informed the daily explains that if you are making a film on a defence personnel, besides permission from the family, MoD clearance on every aspect is important. He said, "We have submitted all requisite paperwork. The title and script have been cleared." The shooting of Vikram Batra biopic will commence in May in Chandigarh.
Earlier, in an interview to IANS, Pankaj Tripathi said, "I liked the character very much. I am having a lot of fun while shooting for the film. Janhvi is a very sincere actress. She respects me a lot and I too respect her for the sincerity and commitment towards her work."
