In order to pay homage to the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi, more than 1.16 crore students of fifty thousand schools of Gujarat planted 1.5 crore saplings.
Explain that on October 2, the country will celebrate the 150th birth anniversary of Bapu. An official associated with the Gujarat Education Department said that children from government, aided and semi-government schools participated in the program. Children planted saplings in and around the school premises.
It has been told in the official release that records of planted plants are being collected, so that every effort can be made to keep them alive.
According to Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Nitinbhai Patel, Gandhi will celebrate Jayanti as India Cleanliness Day. On the riverfront, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will declare India free from open defecation in the presence of many foreign ambassadors, leaders, thinkers, Gandhians, 20,000 sarpanches of the country and members of the Union and Gujarat cabinet. The function will include sarpanches of several states and union territories, including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Punjab, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Maharashtra.
On this occasion, sarpanches will be divided into four divisions of Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara and Mehsana and taken to Gandhi sites here. These include Mahatma Mandir, Dandi cottage, Model Village, Statue of Unity etc. built in Gandhinagar. Buses have also been arranged to carry sarpanches.
