Director Feroz Abbas Khan dazzle cine and theater lovers by bringing the cult classic movie Mughal-e-Azam on stage and Mughal-E-Azam- The Play has not only earned rave reviews from the audiences, it has also embossed the bar very high for Indian theater.

The play was screened at NCPA, Mumbai in October, 2016 and each show ran to packed house. The show is returning to Mumbai again and while the makers were worried about ticket sales because of demonetization, the tickets of the second season have already been sold out.

''In my years as a theatre director I haven’t seen such a response to a stage production. I am humbled by the love and appreciation for Mughal-e-Azam,'' said director Feroz Abbas Khan.

''There were anxiety about ticket sales after demonetization, but the quality of our production seems to have ensured full houses," added Shapoorji Pallonji’s Deepesh Salgia.

Shapoorji Pallonji, who had produced the 1960 release and its colour version in 2004, have produced the musical jointly with NCPA.

"Mughal-e-Azam has managed to create a new breed of theater-goers that has been exposed to the magic of a stage production, and will hopefully stay devoted to. I think this kind of craze for a play has rarely been seen before," added Deepa Gahlot, NCPA's Head of Theatre & Film Programming.

The epic love story of Salim and Anarkali returns to the NCPA on January 5th and will continue till the 15th of January.
