As many as 1,758 Sikh families were registered with the Relief Organisation till September 2016, out of which 1399 are registered under the relief category, while 359 under the non-relief category.
This was in response to a question raised by MLC Charanjeet Singh regarding incentives being given to the Sikh community living in the Valley throughout militancy by the Relief Ministerduring the question hour in the Upper House today.
The government, however, made it clear that there was no such scheme where under the Sikh community, who had not migrated outside the Valley due to turmoil, alone was provided incentive.
MLA Charanjeet Singh enquired whether the community living in the Valley was being equated with Kashmiri migrants and given or likely to be given package on their pattern.
The government also refuted the claims that any religious discrimination was being done with any community saying that the Central schemesapplied to all.
