CM lays stone of Rs 60-cr road projects

Giving connectivity in the state a major push, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti today laid the foundation of Rs 60-crore road projects in north Kashmir districts of Baramulla and Bandipora.

The Chief Minister laid the foundation of widening of the 15-km Hygam-Tarzoo- Sopore road at Hygam. To be built at a cost of Rs 14.15 crore, the two-lane road would have a carriageway of around 4 m, an official spokesman said.

Interacting with locals on the occasion, the Chief Minister hoped the coming season would be a year of infrastructure development in the state. She said many road and tunnel projects had been planned in the state. These would not only connect areas and people but also bring about a substantial economic turnaround in these areas.

Mehbooba said the government had flagged sectors, like infrastructure development, tourism and horticulture as thrust areas, which could give the local economy a boost and help in tiding over the problem of unemployment in the state. At Sopore, Mehbooba laid the foundation stone of widening and modernisation of 10-km Ladoora-Achabal road, being executed at a cost of Rs 17.11 crore.

On the occasion, people met the Chief Minister and brought several of their problems to her notice, the spokesman said.

Mehbooba also laid the foundation of renovation work on the Sopore-Shiva road at Dangerpora.
She also laid the launched the work on 13.20-km Bandipora-Arin-Nadihal road which would be executed at a cost of Rs 10.56 crore.

In Baramulla, the Chief Minister laid the foundation of two hostels and a community hall besides the currency chest of J&K Bank during her visit to the town .
