To promote rural tourism and train unemployed rural youth in various facets of tourism and the avenues it offers, a batch of 30 students are undergoing extensive training in photography in Banimulla village of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district.

The programme is being organised by the National Welfare Forum, an NGO, working to promote rural tourism.
The programme is being organised in collaboration with the Tourism Department as Banimulla village has been declared a tourist village by the Central government.

“The photography training is part of a series of programmes initiated at Banimulla village under rural tourism in which youth can take part in various training opportunities,” said Gowhar Wani, Director, National Welfare Forum.

Adil Hussain Mir, one of the students currently undergoing the training, said he was keen to do his bit to promote tourism in the state and the training had provided him the right platform. “I want to work with the Tourism Department and explore new areas and bring them into the tourism ambit,” Adil said.
