The shooting locations in Bollywood films set a different aura and vibe in us. We get inspiration from the movies and plan to visit the locations. So, here we present some of the Bollywood movies that inspire us to travel to Ladakh:

1. Sanam Re
Although the movie did not do that great on box office but it managed to allure the audience with its exotic locations. This romantic movie is set in the locations of Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh and Canada.

2. Jab Tak Hai Jaan
‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ movie depicts the beauty of Pangong Lake, Ladakh. It is the point where Akira (Anushka Sharma) and Samar (Shah Rukh Khan) meet for the first time.

3. 3 Idiots
The Bollywood flick 3 Idiots conveys a strong message about Indian education system but it is still a super one to watch. Few scenes of the movie have been set in the small village of Shey. It is 30 minutes drive for Leh. The school that has been shown as Rancho’s where Amir Khan Teaches to local students became so popular that it was named to Rancho’s School from Druk Padma Karpo Institute.

4. Lakshya
Being director of the movie ‘Lakshya’, Farhan Akhtar demonstrates the mystic land by stating- ‘I think the person I was before I went to Ladakh to shoot, and what I was when I came back – to me are completely two different people, I wasn’t the same.’

5. LOC
J.P. Dutta directed this Bollywood flick. It is one of the biggest multi-starrer movie based on Kargil war. This movie was shot at different locations of Leh. The highlights the hardships that army men face during the wars. It arouses the patriotic spirit as well as the travel spirit.

6. Dil Se : We all must have heard the song ‘Satrangi Re’ from the movie ‘Dil Se’. This beautiful song is filmed at Pangong Lake. Pangong Lake is situated at an elevation of 4,350 meters above sea level. The lake is situated in India and Tibet as well. It is at a drive of 5 hours from Leh but have to take special permission to visit the lake.
